Budapest was the best city to finish my three city tour of Europe because the conversion rate was amazing! I felt rich eating drunken gyro’s at night for $2, buying rounds of drinks for <$30, and spas for $20.
itinerary
February 2017 - 3 days @ Retox Hostel (VERY dirty but really fun programming)!
highlights
Caving underground in Budapest. For three hours we got to climb and crawl through these huge caves. Had the best tour guide who even paused halfway through our tour so we could sing happy birthday to Yu (thank you acoustics!) and pretended to ditch half the group in the caves just to find the rest of them hiding behind a rock a few feet away.
Getting an oil massage at Shenyi Bath house– only $36!
Bathing at Shenyi Bath house and spending a few hours relaxing.
Waking up early and heading to Castle Hill to beat the tourist traffic. Worth the view!
Beer biking through Budapest at sunset– it’s harder than it looks… and we didn’t finish all the beer.
- Boat tour at night along the Danube river… man Budapest has some buda-ful bridges and the Hungarian Parliament Building is gorgeous lit up at night.
Buying rounds of drinks at Szimpla Kert. Huge pub with rooms for dancing, chilling, eating, and drinking.
lowlights
The hostel was quite dirty…. But I can’t complain because they had an amazing event planning staff that gave me some of the best memories in Budapest.
- Overpaying for a facial (also at Shenyi Bathhouse)….
