ITINERARY

  • February 2017 -3 days @ Airbnb called "the Mansion" 6 rooms, 3 washing machines, and 12 beds.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Public transit here is amazing. Busses were efficient and made it easy to get around.

  • Anne Frank museum was so authentic and captivating. I walked through the entire house, saw the original bookcase that led to the secret annex, and read the original diary that was on showcase. Was definitely worth waiting in hour in the rain for.

    • Pro tip: To avoid wait show up at 7pm or  buy tickets online!

  • Verzetsmuseum (The Resistance Museum) was perfect to go to right before Anne Frank Museum. The layout of the museum was a bit odd, and I definitely got lost and made a few wrong turns, but I really appreciated the Dutch stories. It showed 1980 Dutch people from different political streams, and was really informative and not biased at all.

  • Delicious food at Seafood Spui. $60 for the best seafood I’ve ever had! Seafood Bar Spui gave us two huge plates (one raw and one grilled) of razor clams, oysters, lobster, salmon, shrimp, mussels… More food that I could finish. And then having to leave Daniel midway through a meal to finish up an interview. Whoops.

  • Walking along Vondel Park in Amsterdam.

  • Seeing the I Amsterdam sign at sunset, and watching the sun hit the reflection of the pond across the sign.

  • Just going on a wonderful trip with friends. Will never forget lying in the park with Janet as we cuddled up to Tanya for warmth or sitting on the park bench talking to DK and Elliott.

  • Some good Belgian fries.

LOWLIGHTS

  • Red light district is not as crazy or exciting as people make it out to be.
