I have been to Seattle five times now! 3 times was with Amazon (I used to intern there in college), and twice for fun. Seattle is definitely a great place for a weekend trip, but I can't see myself spending more than 4 days here. After coming here in December, twice in February, once in april, and again in August I can safely say that Seattle in the summer time is my favorite. It's amazing taking advantage of the great weather and spending time at Lake Union.

ITINERARY

  • 2 Days @ Westin for Amazon Interview Pre – Grad
  • 3 Days @ Westin for Amazon Interview Post- Grad with Daniel
  • 3 Days @ Airbnb (Gordies!) in Capitol Hill with Daniel

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Just catching up or meeting new friend in Seattle. Seeing high school friend Min, old Amazonian friends, making new friends at Amazon’s brand ambassador retreat (hi Caitlin!), and taking my first trip with one of my best friends Tina.

  • Just some really good food that I have to have every time I come back to Seattle

    • List -- best happy hour I’ve ever been to, $12 for a bottle of wine?! Yes please.

    • Pike Place Chowder --best chowder ever– prefer the one in Pike Place over the one in the mall. Recommend getting the sampler to try four different ones!

    • Piroshky Piroshky -- LOVE the salmon flavored one. Quality of all piroshky's degrades rapidly the minute it loses heat.

    •  Shiros -- yes, it is worth the hype– their otoro will change your life

    • Paseo’s Cuban Sandwiches -- a bit of a drive but worth it

    • Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt -- their passionfruit flavor is my favorite and probably one of the closest Greek yogurts I’ve come to find that tastes like the ones I’ve had in Greece)

  • Love walking along Pike Place market, it's fun and there's always unique art and flowers I like looking at (and never buying)

  • Getting Shiro’s otoro. My favorite memory is finishing an interview, using my stipend money to order a bunch of otoro to eat back in the hotel room to avoid the line lines with Daniel.

  • Taking shots in a shotski at Min’s house and then bar hopping in Capitol Hill

  • Thrift shopping in Capitol Hill

  • Eating at a rented food truck #thanksAmazon along Lake Union in the summer time

  • Catching a Mariners Game at Safeco (not the best stadium I’ve been to though) but they have a retractable roof for when it rains #fancy

  • Catching the view from the Space Needle.

  • Renting a car and driving it up to Vancouver.

lowlights

  • All the rain and cold weather. Don't bring an umbrella, the wind will just blow up over.

  • Not worth waiting in line to see the original Starbucks.
