ITINERARY

  • 4 days @ Airbnb in DT

    • One of the best Airbnb’s I have ever stayed at. $60/night in a high-rise building, plus a 15 min walk to Rogers Arena and most importantly Guu on Thurlow.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Seeing one of my old friends from middle school Dzintra.

  • Catching a Canucks hockey game and fulfilling HIMYM stereotypes. They serve delicious donuts as snacks and beer in sippy cups.

  • Going to Guu on Thurlow-- a Japanese tapas restaurant Daniel and I loved so much we went back three times…

  • Walking through the Festival Lights, no better way to get in the Christmas mood than looking at a garden full of lights and drinking mulled wine.

  • Going to Bubble Tea Shop and eating some of the best egg waffles.

  • Heading to Public Market for shopping, macarons, and a quick lunch.

  • Walking through Stanley Park to catch skyline views and totems.

  • Crossing Capilano Bridge.

  • Feeling grateful to be an American -- it was quick and easy crossing the border from Seattle to Vancouver.

  • The nice people of Canada - everyone was so friendly and kind. Someone even refilled our parking meter for us once it expired!

lowlights

  • Not making it to Whistler due to snow and poor car choice.

  • Capilano Bridge itself was too foggy to appreciate. Great side sculptures and art exhibits though.

  • Going to overhyped restaurants.

    • Miku: Daniel and I were so excited about Miku (Japanese sushi restaurant famous for seared salmon) but turned out to be a disappointment and mainly made for the insta.

    • Japadog: Literally just a hot dog with mayonnaise on it. Save your stomach (and health) and go eat at Guu again LOL .

  • Having to pay for street parking everywhere we go! No free two hour zones anywhere.

for next time

  • Rent a better car to come up here next time for Whistler and go snowboarding!
