Goals in Argentina

Hi there! I moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina in January 2019 for a few months to help bring Eats to parts of the Southern Cone. While I’m there, I want to be intentional with my time, and make sure I make the most out of an experience.

I choose Buenos Aires (not only for its fast growing Eats business and exciting business opportunity) but also because South America has always felt very foreign to me. I want to understand the world better, and this seems like the perfect opportunity to!

Become buff in spanish

Spanish is incredibly useful, and I want to be fully immersed in South America during my work expedition. I want to take a multi-week (thinking 3 to 4 1 hour courses a week) Spanish course and get to a beginner/proficient level. How awesome would it be to hit the tri-fecta Spanish / Chinese / English combo?

Currently eying: Instituto de Spanish.

Go scuba diving

Can’t wait my license! Definitely want to take advantage of this sometime and go at least once every month. Cult-y list for inspiration.

Currently eyeing:

  • Penninsula Valdes, Argentina for seals, whales and penguins. #bless the drysuit certification cause this will be colder dive.

  • Fernando de Noronha, Brazil is a 2 hour flight from mainland Brazli (which is 1hr flight away from SCL).

explore south america

I’m finally down in the Southern Cone! Buenos Aires doesn’t actually have too many direct flights for countries around South America, but that’s not going to stop me from utilizing the most from this trip.

Here’s a list of recommendation of places I’ve got from people. Def can’t finish this all, but it’s good to have a list handy!

  • Isla Perro, Panama City — can I go scuba diving here?

  • Bolivia Salt Flats, I’ve been wanting to do this forever, but it’ll def be a trek

  • Amazon River Tour, there’s a few three day tours I can join that are all inclusive to see pink dolphins

  • Machu Pichu, flight to Lima direct is 4 hours #doable, but it’ll be a trek to get to Cusco

  • Rio De Janeiro, 2.5 hours from SCL this seems very doable. Thinking of combining this to see Carnival with Adam

  • Igazu Falls, a 1.5 hour flight from SCL

  • Montevideo, Uruguay, a short ferry ride from Buenos Aires

  • El Calafate, can do a day trip to hike El Perito Glacier
